I’m Matthew Haughey and I’m one of the directors of this great new company. Myself and 2 others are starting up a bike hire in Ullapool, we are very excited about this challenge and are confident this is something that can take off and bring something new to the area.
I am a born and bred highlander and have lived in Ullapool for 38 years. I currently work at the local leisure centre as a Supervisor and have done so since I was 16 years old. I am also a retained firefighter in Ullapool since 2013. This is something I have always wanted to do and it’s a great way to support and help our community. I have taken up cycling in the last few years, partly as I was challenged by some pals to cycle from Inverness to Wick as that is part of the NC500. Since then I have cycled other parts of the NC500 and one day hope to have completed the whole route.
Since Ben, Tom and myself have gone ahead with this company there have been some challenges. We are confident this new company can bring something new to our village and surrounding area and we can be successful.
This picture was taken on the road A894 between Loch Assynt and Kylesku Bridge. It was a cracking day and saw some amazing scenery. We cycled up to Laxford bridge and over to Lairg and back to our start point Ledmore junction…..96 miles!!!
